Biz-Core has put a comprehensive
Business Continuity Plan in place to mitigate both
generic and customer-specific risks.
Our Business Continuity Plan addresses the disruptions
that could arise due to loss of -
Communications
Hardware
Software
Power
Data
Entire Facility
Biz-Core has equipped its facilities to provide for
redundancy in each of the above areas.
Telecom redundancy: Each
facility has a backup broadband connection through another
carrier. If a broadband connection fails in any of our
facilities, we can switch to the other carrier. If both
carriers are unable to connect due to a disaster in
the location of the facility, then processing will be
shifted to the nearest alternate location – in
India to Mumbai, or in the US to the Philadelphia location.
Server Redundancy: Critical
Servers are configured with dual power and Raid V disk
mirroring. Additionally, critical servers have fully
configured hot standby servers in case of failure of
components within the servers that do not have redundancy.
Hardware Redundancy: Spares
are inventoried for all critical hardware parts. In
many mission critical situations, Biz-Core maintains
its own hardware on a 24/7 basis, including its many
high-speed high volume scanners. When this is not possible
Biz-Core has contractual arrangements with hardware
suppliers to provide on-site maintenance within a stipulated
timeframe
Software Redundancy: Inventory
of all software - both system and application software
is maintained at each backup location. This inventory
also includes the platform and environment under which
the system operates and any exceptional requirement
of the any given application. Backup of system and application
software is continuously updated to ensure the most
recent version is installed
Power redundancy: Each
offshore facility has three alternative power sources
– the public utility grid, back up generators
and UPS. The UPS units back up the critical servers,
communication devices like routers and channel banks,
and critical desktop hardware. If power is not restored
within 15 minutes, generators take over and satisfy
power supply needs. Preventive maintenance is performed
on all UPS units and generators to ensure 24/7availability.
Critical generator and UPS spares are stocked at each
location. Domestic facilities have the public utility
grid, plus UPS units, in specific locations separate
generators are also incorporated as part of the Disaster
Recovery Plan.
Data loss and recovery for business
continuity: Any interruption due to power failure
would require processing to continue by efficient data
recovery from back up facilities. If the location is
not changed and the server back up plan is successfully
triggered, data would not be lost. However, if it is
necessary to relocate to a new facility, data recovery
will be necessary.
Biz-Core has a standardized procedure for data backup;
it follows the GFS methodology for tape backups.
Location Redundancy: Domestic
Redundancy: Biz-Core is unique in its location redundancy.
It has both in-country and out-of-country redundancy
to mitigate city and country risk respectively. If a
natural or man-made disaster strikes a city rendering
the processing center incapable of operating, Biz-Core
can continue to process in its alternate location in
Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, Biz-Core’s offshore
Data Capture Centers (Mumbai and Kolkata) are available
to provide high volume keyboarding during emergency
situations.
Offshore Redundancy: Biz-Core
can provide document scanning (imaging) from any of
its domestic locations, therefore digital images can
be forwarded to our offshore Data Centers without interruption.
Both Mumbai and Kolkata Centers have been designed to
provide backup to each Center. It is Biz-Core standard
operating procedure to provide application programs
and to train operators in both locations so that each
can provide backup in the event it is required.
